can a pesident be paid to be a committee person if all other committee persons get paid.

I am rather stumped at this question because I have no idea what type of an organization you are and the organizations we work with are those that do not pay people usually at all. Is he a regular member of the committee or "ex officio" member of the committee? If he is "ex officio" member then definitely not because he is a member by virtue of his office and does not have to participate in the affairs of the committee. If he is a regular committee member, then that needs some consideration. Let the members decide. That way no one can be upset after the decision is made.
