Who is the previous-past president?
Hi Little Ben,
The bylaws state the following:
The Board of Directors shall consist of the elected officers of the Association, the chairpersons of the standing committees, one (1) at-large member elected from the general membership, and the previous-past President (except where the immediate past President resigns, is removed for cause, or otherwise fails to complete a full term of office for other than health reasons).
Scenario:
John serves a full term as president (i.e. JanDec) and Tim serves as previous-past president.
John is reelected for a second term. Who is the previous-past president?
John resigns in the 4th month of his second term. Betty (VP) takes over as president and finishes Johns term. Who is the previous-past president?
Betty is reelected as president. Who is the previous-past president?
Please advise.
Thanks
Dear Claudette,
This is very confusing. I recommend that you all sit down and figure this out. This is why we don't think a "past president" with board duties is a good idea. If you want continuity stagger board positions and train, train, train new people. I would say the person who resigned is now the past president unless that person does not want to do it.
Cheerio
Little Ben
